Miami County spelling bees continue this week and the Paola Middle School Bee was a blast from the past. When they were in 5th grade, Maddi Markovich and Adeline Stuebner went 21 rounds against each other before being declared co-champions.
Three years later they were back at it again, this time as 8th graders. They were the last two spellers after 10 rounds. There was a winner, as Adeline correctly spelled “Guanine” and “Giza” to win the bee. Both girls will represent Paola Middle School a the Miami County Spelling Bee on Friday, February 21st. The winner of that bee will be invited to the Sunflower State Spelling Bee in March.
