The annual Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration in Ottawa was yesterday afternoon at the Ottawa Memorial Auditorium. The festivities include reading from the winning essays featuring local students who have been hard at work learning about Dr. King. The winner of the “Keep The Dream Alive” award was Virginia Wright from West Franklin High School. She says she wants to change the world by running for office.

She added that thanks to the 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote, both men and women have the opportunity to change the world and she plans on being a big part of it and encouraged others her age to do the same.
