Garnett has a new doctor in town, with a familiar face. In a day and age where doctors like to partner with hospitals or medical groups, Dr. Ross Kimball has decided to go at it on his own. Kimball is a 1998 Central Heights graduate who was in practice with Mercy Health System at a clinic in Pleasanton but spent the last 5 years with St. Luke’s at Anderson County Hospital. He says he decided to make the break from St. Luke’s because he doesn’t think corporate controlled medicine is the best things for the consumer and the patient. His new office, Pheasant Ridge Family Medicine, will be at 312 South Maple. The business is named in honor of a good friend, who taught him how to hunt, who recently passed that he used to go pheasant hunting with. Kimball is born and bred in the area and that is one major reason he decided to stay here. He says the practice will be in line with most of the insurance plans he used at the Family Care Center. He will be taking appointments starting Monday and seeing patients on February 6.
