There were several Civilian Conservation Corps Camps in Franklin County and surrounding area during the 1930’s. Tod Bevitt , with Buried Past Consulting, was the featured speaker at the annual gathering of the Franklin County Historical Society. He says many camps had a mascot:
Bevitt says the Civilian Conservation Corps were run by the military, although men at the camps did not receive military training.
