The Kansas legislature introduced the “Make Kansas Work” plan recently and it addresses many different areas. One area focuses specifically on the rural areas that face unique challenges that urban areas don’t. One way of doing that is by paying for the cost of a person’s schooling, with one catch. State Representative Blaine Finch explains.
Finch adds that Kansas is known as a brain drain state. Students come here for a good education, then leave. The goal is to encourage them to stay here. It’s a recruitment tool and not just a tuition give away.
