The Louisburg Library Board Members violated the Kansas Open Meeting Act, or KOMA, multiple times in the past several months.  Most of the violations stem from Board Members entering into an Executive Session without properly stating why.  Former State Senator Pat Apple, who has attended all of the recent Library Board Meetings, reported the possible KOMA violations last year.  Miami County Attorney Elizabeth Sweeney-Reeder says that when a Board Member makes a motion to go into Executive Session, KOMA requires the motion include a statement describing the subjects to be discussed, the justification for the closed meeting and the time and place in which the open meeting will resume.

The Board Members acknowledged the violations and agreed to go through training to prevent further violations.  That training took place recently.
