The city of Osawatomie needs and wants some upgrades and make overs and are doing what they can to get those. At the City Council meeting last week, Mayor Mark Govea said he was looking for a drone to shoot a video as part of a presentation the city plans to submit for a new HGTV network show from home renovation experts, Ben and Erin Napier, of the popular “Home Town” series. They are looking for a town under 40 thousand people and is rich in history, tradition and community, but could use some upgrades.
According to the Miami County Republic, Osawatomie isn’t the only city in Miami County presenting to HGTV. Paola has produced a video showcasing some of Paola’s activities like the Roots Festival, Farmer’s Market and Trolley rides and highlights wineries, the Courthouse and Park Square. The video is set to the song “Small Town USA”.
Govea says Osawatomie’s video will highlight Main Street, John Brown Park and other locations that show the areas link to history and being the cradle of the Civil War. Even if not selected, Mayor Govea says the video will be a nice promotional tool for the City.
