Local historians are gearing up to mark the 100th anniversary of women winning the right to vote. Franklin County Historical Society Executive Director, Diana Staresinic-Dean, says some historical artifacts will be part of the celebration:
The 19th Ammendment was passed by Congress in 1919 and ratified by the States on August 18th, 1920. Staresinc-Dean says they are researching the names of local women who played an important part in the Women’s Vote Movement and she hopes local residents may be able to find an ancestor who worked on behalf of the women’s right to vote.
