A dispute of sorts is taking place between the Ottawa Fire Department and the Community Development Department. At issue is the Fire Department’s request that any new cul-de-sac meet the international standard of 96 feet so the biggest fire engines can turn around. This is pitted against the Community Development’s desire to adopt something less. Fire Chief Tim Matthias told the Ottawa Planning Commission he’s having trouble accepting anything less than the 96 feet standard.
The Planning Commission tabled the matter until its next meeting.
