The Franklin County Spelling Bee is in the history books, along with some words that most of us probably never use or perhaps, never even heard of. The Bee was held in the brand new Performing Arts Center at Ottawa High School. Ottawa School Board member, Lynda Alderman gave one student a word:
The correct spelling is V-O-R-T-I-C-E-S. Placing First Place in the Spelling Bee was Tanis Normile of Garfield Elementary. Second Place went to Lucas Hassler of West Franklin Middle School. Placing Third was Malcolm Williamson of Garfield Elementary.
