A lot of words.  Some easy and some hard to spell, were handled at the Franklin County Spelling Bee.  Held for the first time at the brand new Performing Arts Center at Ottawa High School, 28 students from all the area School Districts participated.  Ottawa School Board Member Lynda Alderman, served as word presenter.

The correct spelling is P-A-L-I-N-D-R-O-M-E.  The work means “a word, phrase or sequence that reads the same backward as forward”. Placing first at the Spelling Bee was Tanis Normile of Garfield Elementary, Second Place went to Lucas Hassler of West Franklin Middle School, and Third Place was Malcolm  Williamson of Garfield Elementary
