A proposed new tax bill sponsored by State Senator, Caryn Tyson, is drawing a lot of fire from County Clerks and other officials.  Tyson says the bill would promote transparency and fairness in the property tax system by requiring a vote of a local government entity every time property taxes are increased.  During the regular Franklin County Commission Meeting, County Clerk Janet Paddock told about some of her reservations:

The proposed bill is undergoing a series of hearings in the Legislature, and County Officials are expected to testify against the bill.
