Franklin County Clerk, Janet Paddock, has expressed concerns over a new tax bill in the Kansas Legislature that makes local government more accountable when it comes to increasing property taxes.  She says it would cost the County upwards of $14,000 every time they wanted to raise more tax money.  Paddock says it would also affect items that are under the current tax lid.  Senator Tyson says that’s the goal:

Local governments would then have to have a public vote to increase property tax instead of just letting it happen when valuations go up.
