The second Legislative Coffee was held Saturday at Ottawa City Hall. One question that came up was the use of school vouchers and students’ ability to move to the school of their choice and parents being able to donate to a fund to use for that purpose. Representative Blaine Finish says while the bills are still in committee and he hasn’t seen them yet, it’s his understanding the fund has not been well used. He doesn’t see them making it very far this year.
The other bill referenced was the Reading Awareness Act. Finch says that after last year’s constant focus on school funding, schools and teachers can get back to doing what they went to school to do: help and educate kids.
