A 73 year old Wichita man was killed early this morning near Le Loup after being struck by a semi truck on I-35.

The accident happened about 5:20 this morning.  According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 73 year old Sydney Huff was changing the left front tire of his 2005 Impala at mile marker 193, a half mile South of Tennessee Road, when a semi truck driven by 51 year old Jerry Tiger, of Wichita, drove over the right lane edge line striking him.  Tiger then fled the scene in his truck.  Law enforcement tracked the truck and notified Johnson County Agencies.  Tiger was eventually stopped by officers with the Gardner Police Department, near Gardner.  He was taken to Olathe Medical Center Complaining to chest pain.

A passenger in Huff’s vehicle, 23 year old Jamal Bell of Wichita, was not injured in the crash.  One lane of I-35 was closed for several hours while the accident was investigated.  No information is available on Tiger’s condition or what charges he may face in regard to the accident.  KOFO will provide more details as they become available.
