The Osawatomie Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the Kansas City Soap
Box Derby & the city of Osawatomie have announced that they will be hosting their second sanctioned all American Soap Box Race in Osawatomie Saturday, April 26th, running right down Main Street. This race invites soap box racers from all over the United States and the Kansas City region. The Kansas City Soap Box Derby has been gracious enough to loan 12 lucky kids in Osawatomie to race in! They hope you will take this opportunity to join them.
A sanctioned race meant the top 8 drivers can earn points toward qualifying for a trip to the World Championships in Akron, Ohio. Osawatomie Chamber Director Hitomi Lamirande came up with the idea for a soap box derby rally in Osawatomie last year, after her son won the 2018 District Championship in Kansas City. Hundreds of people lined the streets last year to watch the event and they are expecting even more this year.
