Ottawa Police Chief Adam Weingartner say crime in Ottawa is at it’s lowest point in over five years. After a 20% drop in 2018, he says, showing another 5% drop in 2019 was significant. One thing that he suspects is preventing some crime is the number of people who are calling in suspicious activity.
He encourages people to continue to lock their vehicles, keep valuables out of sight and keep calling in suspicious activity. The top three crimes in Ottawa the past several years have been car burglaries, theft and vehicle theft.
