The Garnett Housing Authority doesn’t seem really excited about the prospect of a community-wide housing feasibility study and that has prompted the idea of a partnership project with the city and county economic development agency to help fund the work.

There is a waiting list at Parkside Place Apartments and the Park Plaza North Development. City Commissioners have suggested such a study could help determine the possibility of a new senior housing project in the city. City Manager, Chris Weiner told commissioners recently he’d like to see a feasibility study of general housing in the community in addition to senior housing, with the hope of uncovering data that might lure private investors to expand more general local housing options. Weiner says the study could be grouped with a senior housing study in order to get a broader set of results. A feasibility study would cost between 15 and 30 thousand dollars.
