A few weeks ago, State Senator Caryn Tyson commented that most school districts in Kansas do not have sufficient information technology programs for students, and that in turn drew a strong response from Ottawa School Superintendent, Dr. Ryan Cobbs, who challenged Tyson to come see what Ottawa offers. Tyson recently took up that challenge, and an active discussion is underway on how to expand computer education programs. During a recent meeting at Ottawa High School, Tyson noted there are ways Ottawa could serve as a host for other school districts:
Cobbs says there are real fears among smaller school districts that at some point the State might force them into a bigger consolidation. He says if students from smaller districts understand the bigger offering of programs of bigger districts then some students will want to attend bigger districts on a full-time basis.
