When it comes to property tax, Kansans pay one of the highest taxes in the country. One big issue for people is not knowing when the tax goes up…or down. A bill in the senate now removes the tax lid and makes the process of raising more taxes much more transparent as well as send mailers to property owners as to when tax increases may be voted on. Senator Caryn Tyson says they want to use a model used by Tennessee and Utah that has worked for 35 years. She says the tax chairman for Utah say the people want the mailer notices.
