The City of Ottawa is a leader in offering brerastfeeding station to nursing mothers and integrating paid leave for working parents. With the number of women who are breastfeeding on the increase, 90 percent of new mothers in Franklin County, according to the Director of the Kansas Breastfeeding Coalition, Brenda Bandy, many cities are working it into their employment policy. However, Bandy says the paid leave has tremendous benefits:
Ottawa is only one of six cities in Kansas with breastfeeding policies and paid leave policies as comprehensive as they are.
