Speed on Old Highway 59, south of Ottawa was discussed in the City Study recently. Commissioner, Blake Jorgenson, says that since the area is, and will be, used by heavy truck traffic with the proposed building of a concrete plant in the area, perhaps the city should ask KDOT to lower the speed limit. Community Development Director, Wendy Lees, says it’s all about traffic count:
Right now the speed limit is 65, until you get to Loves Truck Stop. Jorgenson says he is concerned about traffic coming off I-35 and coming from the south on 59.
