Ottawa High School had only 35 parents show up for Parent Teacher Conferences last year. With nearly 100% participation on the elementary level, teachers needed to figure out how to get more OHS parents involved. The idea: student led conferences. According to Superintendent Dr. Ryan Cobbs, it is working:
Whitaker reports nearly 79% of OHS students participated this year, and added that parents had an opportunity to complete a survey to give ideas on how to further improve the conferences and get more parents involved in the education of students.
