One group especially vulnerable to complications from the coronavirus are those with developmental disabilities. Because of this, INTERHAB, the state’s largest advocacy group, has decided to cancel its annual Advocacy Day scheduled for March 25th. Officials say the decision to cancel was made out of an abundance of caution for potential exposure risks of the coronavirus. More that 850 Kansans with developmental disabilities, their friends and family and disability advocates from across the state had registered to attend the rally. INTERHAB’s Annual Advocacy Day is an event for attendees to call on the Legislature to enact laws and policies that will improve and sustain services provided to more that 9,000 Kansans with Developmental Disabilities. Many people with developmental disabilities also have physical or health conditions that make them more susceptible to complications from coronavirus.
