Many colleges across the United States have announced they are extending their Spring breaks and moving to online only classes in the wake of coronavirus fears. Ottawa University does not have plans to delay classes following Spring break. The University began preparedness discussions about the coronavirus in January with County Health officials and Advent Health Ottawa and preventative steps were implemented on campus. Information has been given to students on precautionary measures for avoiding contracting the viruses. Campus President, Dr. Reggies Wenyika, says there are no plans to suspend classes, but they are prepared:
He adds that during Spring break, travel to affected areas is being discouraged. The University has heightened preventative practices in dining services, residence halls, and other facilities. Increased monitoring of athletic teams’ schedules and travel is being carried out to ensure the safety of the students, and changes will be made if necessary.
