The Munsee Indian Tribe has a rich history in Franklin County, but they weren’t always in this area. The came originally from Canada and made their way south as the United States and the British fought in the north. Mike Ford is a Munsee historian and he says they took a interesting path:
From that point they began their trek into Franklin County. Ford and several other Numsee Indian representatives would like to reestablish their culture, history and knowledge to descendants, as well as achieve Federal recognition.
