If you have a court hearing in Franklin, Anderson, Osage or Coffey Counties the next six weeks, it has been continued. Chief Judge of the Fourth Judicial District, Taylor Wine, has ordered all jury trials, both civil and criminal and all Chapter 61 actions, with the exception of evictions and garnishments, be continued until after May 1st.
The ruling does state individuals are prohibited from entering the Courtroom, hallway or clerk’s office if they have traveled to an area affected by covid 19, been exposed to it, or have symptoms and must maintain six feet of separation when possible, in compliance with public health recommendations.
The order does state the courts and clerk’s offices will remain open to file documents and make inquiries, however, you are encouraged to use telephone or email to make contact when possible.
