Kansas Lawmakers are scheduled to resume the 2020 session today, with the House beginning at 11:00 this morning, and the Senate resuming at 2:30 this afternoon.
Legislators did not work over the weekend, and visitors are asked to stay away from the Statehouse during the current coronavirus crisis. As a safety precaution, visitors and tour groups will not be allowed inside the building. Access is now limited to individuals conducting official business. Legislators, staffers, the statehouse press corps and other individuals with official legislative business will have access to the Capitol.
Lawmakers are hoping to wrap up this year’s Legislative business as quickly as possible in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Health officials are also discouraging, and in some areas, banning, the gathers of large public groups. Even without visitors, the daily population of the building is in the hundreds.
