Locally, reaction to the school closure was a mix of sadness, anger, frustration and concern. Social media quickly filled with teacher reactions that were mainly filled with concern over their students and sadness that they would not get to give daily hugs or at least say goodbye to the kids. Parents say for the most part their kids were saddened by the news and yearning for their friends.
USD 290 superintendent Dr. Ryan Cobbs emphasized that district staff are formulating a plan to continue learning.
Building principals well meet with Dr. Cobbs on Friday to determine how to implement the plan, train the staff and ensure that all students have access to that learning.
