Schools in Kansas are not shut down for the rest of the school year as almost everyone assumes. That is the message emerging from a special meeting of the Ottawa School Board. After March, officials say small groups of less than 10 students can occupy the buildings for school work. Board member Malydia Payne and Ottawa school superintendent Dr. Ryan Cobbs discussed the situation.
Cobbs also noted that the traditional prom for the high school will not happen, and that high school graduation will almost certainly have to be delayed for several months until the education program is restructured.
