Franklin County has its second confirmed case of COVID-19. The individual is an employee at American Eagle Outfitters Distribution Center in Ottawa. According to a release from the Franklin County Board of Commissioners, the Health Department is investigating the case, trying to determine the number of close contacts the person has made in the last 14 days. As a precaution, American Eagle employees have been sent home while a thorough investigation takes place. County administration is in constant communication with officials at American Eagle concerning the nature of business operations there and whether the emergency “Stay At Home” order issued on Tuesday is applicable to them. A determination is expected soon. The Franklin County Health Department continues to closely monitor the COVID-19 outbreak in Kansas and is working with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment as well as other agencies to manage the situation.
Franklin County remains under a “Stay At Home” order until April 25th. People are encouraged to stay at home and only go out for work related purposes, for food, fuel and health care, practice social distancing and wash your hands thoroughly for at least 20 seconds after any public contact.
