The Lawrence Public Health Department has released the latest numbers on COVID-19 for Douglas County. They report having 26 positive cases. Eighteen of those are travel related and five involve local transmission, with three others under investigation. There are 15 male and 11 female patients ranging in age from 10 to 80. Seventeen of the cases are are between the ages of 20 to 40 years old.
Given that there are local transmission in the County, the likelihood of more cases is high, the Health Department is working closely with the cities of Eudora, Baldwin City and LeCompton, in addition to schools, Universities and Law Enforcement agencies to protect the safety and well being of all residents. They are highly encouraging social distancing and would like people to stay at home and away from crowds and follow the statewide Stay at Home Order.
Also, Osage County has reported its third case of COVID-19 and has seven county residents under isolation orders awaiting test results.
