As of yesterday afternoon at 2, Miami County had no confirmed cases of COVID-19, however, all surrounding counties do. Particularly Johnson county with 161 cases. As of Wednesday, Miami County had 55 tests, all negative, some still pending. Miami County Health Department Director Rita McCoon says that just because the county has not recorded a positive test doesn’t necessarily mean no one has the coronavirus in Miami County. She said that is why it is important for residents to be vigilant about following all precautionary guidelines currently in place, such as the stay-at-home order and social distancing. McCoon also pointed out half of the county’s population works in Johnson County, making the likelihood that someone in the county has contracted the virus and may not yet know it.
