The Kansas Department of Health and Environment gave an update on the COVID 19 pandemic yesterday afternoon. The number of cases in Kansas has risen to 900 with 27 deaths. There have been 223 hospitalizations reported. Franklin County remains at 10 cases, Johnson County reports 219, Douglas 38, Miami 2, Linn 5, Osage 3 and Anderson County still has no reported cases.
With Holy Week underway and Kansas approaching its expected peak in COVID 19 cases, Governor Laura Kelly has made the tough decision to bring religious institutions in line with the order to limit public gatherings to 10 or fewer:
Kelly says that funerals and church services have been deemed as essential, but the gatherings must comply with the 10 person or fewer order. She says that at least three clusters of COVID 19 infections have been associated with religious gatherings.
