The Kansas Department of Health and Environment gave an update on the COVID 19 pandemic yesterday afternoon.  The number of cases in Kansas has risen to 1,106 with 42 deaths associated with the virus.  There have been 263 hospitalizations reported.  Franklin County remains 10 cases, Johnson County reports 252, Douglas 38, Miami 3, Linn 5, Osage 3, and Anderson County still has no reported cases.

The Legislative Coordinating Council overturned Governor Kelly’s order restricting  Church gatherings of 10 or more, saying it was unconstitutional, and unenforceable.  However, State Health Officer, Dr. Lee Norman, says it’s not a political question, but one of Public safety.

Governor Kelly has filed a lawsuit seeking the Council’s action be overturned and her order be put in place.

In Franklin County, as a whole, more positive cases are recovering and negative test results are on the increase.  Officials say remaining at home, while continuing to practice social distancing if you must be out, will be crucial to flattening the curve.
