Back in early February we told you about a Spring Hill teen, Alicia Berkey, with a rare lung disease waiting for a double lung transplant. The eleven hour surgery was a huge success and the recovery process started immediately. Last week we told you about how she surprised doctors and was able to walk all the way down the hall and back. She was expected to be in the hospital for about three months, however, great news from her parents: Ali will be able to leave the hospital possibly as early as this weekend. It’s very rare for a transplant patient to have such a rapid recovery.
Her parents ask that people pray for the doctors and nurses as they are going through a tough time in the COVID 19 pandemic and they ask for prayers for Ali. She’s a brave young woman, but needs all the support she can get. They also ask that everyone comply with the COVID 19 guidelines in place and stay home. Because you might be a carrier and not know it and Ali can’t fight it off like everyone else. Her parents, Joe and Chrissy Berkey, will be staying with Ali in St. Louis in an apartment for about three months while Ali continues her recovery. We’ll keep you posted on any more updates.
