A new email scam is taking advantage of people in a new way!  The scam involves an email that says the scammer has a sexually compromising video of the person that they will release if they don’t pay $2,000.00.  What make the extortion so believable is that the con artist says they know the victims personal password and it may be displayed on the screen.

And that’s where the extortion — or as the scammers call it –“a one time, non negotiable offer” comes into play.  They say to “get $2,000 in bitcoin and send them to an address listed.  If you comply within 24 hours, the email warns, they will make sure “you live out of guilt for the rest of your existence.”  The FBI says since so many people are staying home these days, scammers are finding new victims.  Officials at the FBI says if you receive one of these emails:  Don’t respond, “Don’t pay, it is a total scam.”
