The Miami County Health Department confirmed an elderly resident of North Point Skilled Nursing in Paola has tested positive for COVID-19. The resident was put in isolation while the results were pending and will remain in a private room. Beginning today, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment is providing testing for all North Point employees and residents. North Point reports that no other residents are showing symptoms. This resident is the only active case in Miami county because the previous cases have recovered. As of yesterday, Kansas has 6,501 confirmed cases of corona virus with 41,207 negative tests.
