This week is national police week throughout the united states, proclaimed by President Kennedy in 1962 to pay special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others. Sunday night, officers with the Ottawa Police Department participated in the salute to blue procession to honor overland park police department officer Mike Mosher. Ottawa police considered it an honor to participate and a fitting start to national law enforcement officer’s memorial fund police week to celebrate and honor those that have given the ultimate sacrifice.
