If you have been out by Pomona lake lately, you may have notice changed in the release of water at the spillway. Yesterday afternoon, officials at the lake decreased the discharge rate at the lake to 15 cubic feet per second on Thursday and then increased it back to 1000 cubic feet on Saturday. Natural resource specialist John Spengler says they are trying to keep the lake level even. A couple weeks ago, the level was 5 feet high. With the recent release, the lake is back to what they consider normal. As we progress into what is normally a wet season, official want to keep the lake at or near normal to accommodate rain runoff from streams that enter the lake. Spengler says this is routine and they will continue to adjust the flow as the season goes on dependent on the amount of rain the area gets.
