Miami county and Waste Management have announced they are partnering again this year to offer free drop-off days at the county transfer station. Starting Monday and running through October 31st, Miami county residents can dispose of unwanted items, except tires and appliance containing freon, free of charge. Miami county and Waste Management officials worked together to make drop off more efficient and easier to use this year so people can avoid having to wait in long lines.

Here’s the catch. This year, residents will be required to wear protective protection equipment, which includes a hard hat and safety vest, to enter the transfer station. No one will be admitted to the transfer station without those items. And, if you don’t have your own, they can purchase the equipment from waste management for $13.50.  People were not required to purchase the protective equipment in the past because it was reusable. However, this year, because of the coronavirus, items can not be shared so now everyone must have their own hard hat and safety vest because the pandemic no longer makes it possible to share items.
