A couple months ago, when the Stay At Home Order went into affect, Ottawa Police were greeted with a reduction in the number of property crimes. Since restrictions have been lifted, that has changed and there has now been an increase, and a lot of the crimes are crimes of opportunity. Ottawa Police Chief, Adam Weingartner:
Nearly all the vehicles that are burglarized are unlocked and many have the keys in them. Weingartner emphasizes the importance of locking your doors.
