The Rally at City Park this evening, in support of racial equality, is drawing concern from many in the Community. The organizers of the event, 2020 Ottawa High School Graduates Natalie Maxhimer and Lilly Drury, have been in constant communication with the City of Ottawa and the Ottawa Police Department to make sure the event is held correctly and peacefully. Ottawa Police Chief, Adam Weingartner, addressed the Ottawa City Commission and says he knows of the concerns:
The Rally is scheduled for 6:00 in the evening and will feature five local speakers, including Chief Weingartner, former Mayor, Richard Jackson, Lacey Knight (who grew up in Ottawa), Dorzell Owens, a local resident and Taya Hickman, former Student Body President at Ottawa University.
