As Ottawa entered the Statewide Lockdown a couple months ago, the Ottawa Police Department reported a significant decrease in property thefts and other related crimes. Then, as restrictions eased, Ottawa saw an uptick in those types of crimes. Ottawa Police Chief, Adam Weingartner, says those have leveled off the past few weeks:
He does encourage people to continue to lock your cars, do not leave valuables in sight, close garage doors, and report any suspicious activity immediately.
