Miami County Election results are in from the 2020 Kansas Primary yesterday.  In the 6th District House of Representatives Republican Race, it was Samantha Potter getting the win over Clifford Blackmore.  Mark Samsel defeated challenger, Mark Powls, in the Republican Primary for the House District 5 Seat in Miami County by a vote of  431 to 244.  He also won District Wide and will face Democrat Roger Sims in the General Election.

In the only County Race, incumbent Janet White defeated challenger Mathew Mercer for the Miami County Clerk position, 62% to 38%

Two School bond Issues were on the Ballot yesterday.  Louisburg voters rejected the proposed $27 million Bond Question addressing facility upgrades and enhanced Learning Environments and a Second Question of nearly $7 million to build a new baseball and softball complex.

The Prairie View USD 362 Bond Issue was a success.  It passed with 752 ‘yes’ votes and only 536 ‘no’ votes.  The majority of the votes came from voters in Linn County.  Planned renovations include remodeling Special Education Classroom, Science Labs and turning the AG Classrooms into a new Art Design Workshop as well as adding a weight room, new AG Classroom and a greenhouse, among other things.

Miami County had voter turnout of 30.64%, breaking the mark of 24.98% set in the 2018 Primary.

All Election results are unofficial until they are verified at the Canvass.  The Miami County Canvass is set for August 14th.
