Preliminary hearings have been set in late October for two Garnett residents charged with attempted murder of a Williamsburg man, in what police describe as a bizarre love triangle involving a sex tape that turned violent. Mary Jennings and Maxwell Williams are set for a Preliminary Hearing October 27 on charges they laid a trap for William Hopkins at Jennings’ home in the 100 block of First Avenue in Garnett. They lured him to Jennings bedroom and stabbed him. Both face charges of Attempted Murder, Conspiracy To Commit Murder and Interference with a Law Enforcement Officer.
Hopkins showed up at Anderson County Hospital about 7:30 in the evening on July 24th, bleeding from a number of slice and stab wounds, and refused to provide Police any information about the incident. Garnett Police couldn’t get information on whether there were other victims, so they seied Hopkins cell phone, vehicle and other personal effects.
Hopkins then told Police he and Jennings had been in a relationship and had filmed themselves being intimate and sent the video to Williams. When Police arrived at Jennings residence, a trail of blood led to the bedroom where apparently Williams had laid in wait and attacked Hopkins, stabbing him multiple times.
