The Osawatomie USD 367 School District has confirmed that there are now four positive cases of COVID within the School District– all staff members. Two Trojan Elementary Staff members, an Osawatomie Middle School staff member and a District Office Staff member, have all tested positive.
Yesterday, Superintendent Justin Burchette, addressed the first reported case, saying the staff member had not been at school that day. In yesterday’s notification, the District says they have been in contact with the Miami County Health Department regarding the issue and are in the process of contacting impacted families. If there is a need for a student or staff member to quarantine, the Miami County Health Department will contact those impacted. Burchett confirmed yesterday the District has no plans to close any schools because of he new cases. He asks that the privacy of all staff and students be respected.
Also, a Paola High School Student has tested positive. In a letter to parents, USD 368 Officials say the Health Department is contacting those people who may have been in close contact. They do, however, emphasize that this positive case is not a result of a transmission occurring at school or related activities.
