A new type of futuristic tool to restrain people, has been demonstrated to the Ottawa Police Department. The Bola Wrap consists of a device that fires a kevlar cord to wrap around the legs of a suspect. KOFO’s Milton Ammen, spoke with company representative, Kevin Johnson, who says the device is seeing increasing use:
Ottawa Police ChieF Adam Weingartner, says the device may be a valuable tool in employing non-deadly force when trying to apprehend a suspect and they are training a pair of officers with the device. A decision to buy it won’t come until after extensive evaluation.
