The Franklin County Jail is in a financial squeeze, of sorts, because the state wants them to do what should be the state’s responsibility. Sheriff Jeff Richards says the state is pressuring county jails to house prisoners that belong in state facilities and, the state is not compensating enough:
Richards says he may ask County Commissioners to intercede with State Authorities to try and correct the situation.
