The Prairie Spirit Trail Bridge over the Marais Des Cygnes River in downtown Ottawa will be closed tomorrow. Public Works crews will be doing some yearly maintenance on the bridge and surrounding area in preparation for a periodic levee inspection coming up soon. The walking and riding bridge will be closed the rest of the week, as crews perform the work on and around it. The levee is inspected periodically to assure the strength of the structure and to make sure it is able to withstand the pressure from the river in case of high water. It was also inspected last year after the heavy rains throughout the Summer and Fall months led to the river rising to flood levels several times.
The Prairie Spirit Trail Bridge should reopen by Saturday morning
